Job Description:

Our Asia Pacific region is seeking a Vice President to join the firm’s Investment Research group in Hong Kong or Tokyo. This position involves research into economic, capital markets, and property market trends in support of the firm’s investment strategies in private equity and debt and real estate securities. Research is an integral part of the investment process at Heitman and the focus of significant corporate resources.

Job Responsibility:

  • Collect and analyze data on property markets, capital markets and economic trends in major Asia Pacific markets, with particular emphasis on Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia
  • Translate high level economic and market trends into relevant insights for portfolio performance and investment strategy
  • Create and maintain content and charts that convey economic or market trends in a compelling manner for client presentations
  • Work alongside the acquisition team on prospective property acquisitions, including assessments of local market conditions and trends, competitive properties and identification of risks/opportunities
  • Write the market summary for annual business plans for properties within the Heitman-managed Asia Pacific portfolio
  • Write white papers and Thought Leadership pieces on market trends and their investment implications
  • Interact and work collaboratively with senior management and clients in person and on conference calls

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics or a related field
  • 7 to 10 years in real estate research, consulting, finance or economics
  • Prior experience within the commercial real estate industry preferred
  • Experience covering multiple markets across the Asia Pacific Region preferred
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and written and oral communication skills
  • A highly developed ability to juggle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Fluency in Excel, PowerPoint and data visualization
  • Comfort with creating, maintaining and manipulating databases
  • Intellectual curiosity and integrity
  • Willingness to work independently on short deadlines
  • Fluent and able to write reports in English

Nice to have:

  • An advanced degree or CFA designation a plus
  • Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin language skills a plus
