At SONIFI Health, Inc., we are passionate about delivering patient engagement solutions that transform the care experience. Our platform integrates seamlessly with EHR systems and includes tools like digital whiteboards, interactive TV, mobile apps, dashboards, and digital signage to improve communication, education, and satisfaction for patients and care teams. We are currently looking for an innovative VP of Engineering to define and execute the technology strategy for SONIFI’s healthcare product portfolio. This role oversees architecture, development, and delivery across multiple engineering domains. The VP partners closely with Product, Operations, and Executive Leadership to align engineering priorities with business growth, profitability, and customer success. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this position influences enterprise-wide technology direction, organizational design, and strategic partnerships. This position requires travel up to 15% of the time. This position can be home based or located at our corporate office in Sioux Falls, SD.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and lead the long-term engineering vision and strategy for SONIFI’s healthcare business
  • Translate corporate and product strategy into actionable technical roadmaps and resource plans
  • Drive innovation in cloud-native solutions, interoperability, and data platforms aligned with healthcare standards (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, FHIR)
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering organization with a culture of accountability, inclusion, and technical excellence
  • Develop senior engineering leaders and establish clear succession and talent development paths
  • Champion continuous improvement in architecture, technical debt reduction, automation, DevSecOps, and agile delivery practices
  • Oversee execution across multiple programs and product lines to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of secure, compliant, and scalable solutions
  • Balance innovation with operational rigor, managing both near-term commitments and long-term platform investments
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, quality, and system reliability
  • Influence prioritization decisions based on technical feasibility, business impact, and customer outcomes
  • Serve as the executive escalation point for major technical or delivery challenges
  • Lead initiatives to modernize infrastructure, optimize CI/CD and DevOps pipelines, and strengthen cloud reliability and observability
  • Manage engineering budgets, vendor relationships, infrastructure cost, and resource allocation to maximize ROI
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data protection, security, and regulatory frameworks

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
  • advanced degree preferred
  • 12+ years in software engineering leadership roles, with at least 5 years in healthcare or similar industries, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Demonstrated success leading cloud transformation initiatives (AWS preferred) and large-scale enterprise integrations
  • Deep understanding of healthcare interoperability standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience shaping architecture and platform strategies for distributed, data-driven systems
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences
  • Track record of leading organizational change and scaling teams through growth phases
  • Strong executive presence and ability to represent Healthcare Engineering at the C-suite level
  • Proven ability to align technology investment with business strategy, profitability, and customer outcomes
  • Financial discipline in managing multi-million-dollar budgets and technology portfolios
