We are looking for an experienced and strategic VP/Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations of our organization in Muskegon, Michigan. This key leadership role involves managing the fiscal health of the organization, ensuring compliance with established regulations, and providing insightful financial guidance to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep knowledge of governmental accounting standards, and the ability to drive financial strategies that align with organizational goals.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support organizational objectives
Provide expert financial analysis and guidance to senior leadership and department heads, ensuring informed decision-making
Oversee cash flow management, investment strategies, and debt handling to maintain fiscal stability
Ensure compliance with federal award requirements, including cost principles and audit standards, under Uniform Guidance regulations
Monitor and ensure adherence to governmental accounting standards and prepare accurate financial reports, including the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with various departments to create and manage program budgets
Supervise daily accounting operations such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
Coordinate and manage annual financial audits and required Single Audits, addressing findings efficiently
Mentor and develop finance department staff, fostering a culture of integrity and continuous improvement
Evaluate and implement upgrades to financial systems and software to optimize operational efficiency
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
advanced degree or CPA preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting
Proficiency in governmental accounting standards and compliance regulations, such as GASB and Uniform Guidance
Strong knowledge of financial reporting and audit processes, including experience with government audits
Proven ability to manage cash flow, create forecasts, and develop annual budgets
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in staff management and fostering growth and development
Familiarity with financial software systems and ability to evaluate and implement system upgrades
Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to diverse stakeholders
