We are seeking a VP & Assistant General Counsel to join the U.S. commercial legal team for the Sports and Entertainment line of business. The position reports to the SVP & Deputy General Counsel for the U.S. Business, and is based at Aramark HQ in Philadelphia.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a member of the senior leadership team of one or more assigned business unit(s)
Provide sound advice on strategic, business and legal topics, including sales strategy, regulatory issues, strategic partnerships, contract interpretation questions, risk considerations, and commercial disputes
Collaborate with business and functional leadership to ensure satisfaction with nature and degree of legal support
Manage, develop and inspire a team of attorneys and other legal professionals
Ensure excellence of team’s deliverables and support through delegation, prioritization, and coaching
Accountable for effective handling of complex matters, including negotiation of complex commercial agreements, managing disputes and litigation, and providing legal support for M&A activity or other strategic partnerships
Manage contracting process and appropriate review of requests for proposals and bid responses
Advise on strategic multi-year relationship building with external stakeholders and partnerships
Oversee outside counsel and manage external spend within agreed budgets
Handle emerging and high-profile matters with minimal supervision
Operate with a management mindset to influence business outcomes
Identify and lead impactful projects and initiatives
Model ownership and accountability
Provide input on US legal strategy
Promote a culture of trusted hospitality
Travel as needed (~10%) for in-person negotiations, trainings, and leadership meetings
Requirements:
Excellent academic credentials and J.D. required
Active law license in PA or ability to become licensed in PA
At least 12 years of experience at a sophisticated law firm or corporate legal department
Experience working on complex commercial agreements, advising senior level clients, and leading a team
Excellent judgment and strategic thinker
Strong negotiator and consensus-builder
Effectively delegates, prioritizes, and manages expectations
Leads in a manner that inspires focus, action, and loyalty in team members
Willingness and ability to make difficult decisions regarding legal, business, and managerial issues
Strong executive presence, business acumen, and ability to build trusting relationships at all levels
