We are recruiting for two passionate and people focused Volunteer Operations Officers to support the success of the events’ volunteer programme. This is a unique opportunity to shape one of the most ambitious and inclusive volunteer programmes ever launched in the UK, through three key strands: Volunteer Programme, Young Volunteer Programme, and Accessible Volunteer Programme. You will be a part of a warm, supportive and talented team all working to bring the incredible Grand Départ GB 2027 to life in this truly once in a career event.
Job Responsibility:
Support the volunteer function within the project team, including programme development, integration and operational delivery for the Grand Départ GB 2027 Volunteering Programme
Support us to deliver a world-class volunteer experience from recruitment to on-the-ground delivery, to leaving a lasting impact and legacy of volunteering
Collaborate with internal teams, local authorities, and community partners to ensure a joyful experience for all
Manage key programme elements (shared between the two officers) including system development and management, recruitment, communications and engagement, wellbeing and recognition, uniform, deployment plans and logistics, event time requirements and on the day volunteer experience
Be a key point of contact for our volunteers, local authorities, and community partners, providing excellent customer service and a supportive and positive approach for all
Support with the processing of volunteer applications through our Volunteer Management System
Directly Manage and support volunteers as required
Travel across Scotland, England and Wales to deliver recruitment and training events as required – including some weekend and evening work on occasion
Requirements:
Genuine passion for the power of volunteering and its impact on communities
Understanding of what is required to support volunteers, either through leading them in previous roles or volunteering yourself, ideally in diverse community settings
Organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to take initiative, adapt to change, and bring creativity and resilience to work
Experience in using systems and processes to administrate projects with a high level of attention to detail
Enjoy building and managing relationships and regularly communicating with a mix of people including volunteers, local authority leaders, and internal colleagues
Natural collaborator and team player, committed to working across departments and with external partners
Commitment to increasing diversity in volunteering
