Job Description:

Volunteer grocery shoppers will provide grocery shopping and delivery services to seniors. Volunteers will call the assigned senior to take their list of items over the phone, shop at the designated store location then deliver the groceries to the senior’s home.

Job Responsibility:

  • call the assigned senior and take their list of 20-25 items over the phone
  • shop at the designated store and deliver groceries to the senior’s home
  • carry a cell phone while out shopping and to take picture of the receipt and send to the program Coordinator
  • keep track of the hours designated to the trip and report any concerns regarding the senior
  • identify any concerns or issues regarding the health and well-being of a senior
  • interact with store staff as needed to ensure correct grocery items are located
  • follow in-store policies and communicate with others in a professional, and polite manner

Requirements:

  • criminal records check completed
  • valid driver's license
  • completion of a volunteer interview
  • working with seniors and/or vulnerable populations is an asset
  • knowledge of cell phone use and sending pictures is helpful but not necessary
  • follow confidentiality guidelines
  • ability to read labels, store signage and physically able to conduct grocery shop from beginning to end
