Job Responsibility

Support Rescue Mission staff and share with community members about the needs, purpose, goals, and programming of the Rescue Mission through events, volunteer opportunities, needs drives, tabling events, and more
Partner with the community to organize volunteer and donation opportunities
Work closely with Rescue Mission staff to foster a healthy volunteer culture and best utilize resources for events
Maintain event and volunteer scheduling and documentation
Respond promptly to volunteer, event, and needs drive inquiries via email and/or phone
Share about the Rescue Mission with the community through events, tabling events, Mission tours, and meeting with volunteers
Help prepare and conduct events throughout the year
Reach out to and assist community members with needs drives
Occasionally drive vans not requiring a CDL
Help with other tasks and assignments as necessary

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Non-profit Management or related degree with one to two years coordinating volunteers and events, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong organizational skills, be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and execute in a high-volume environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and convey thoughts clearly, logically and concisely both orally and in writing, using appropriate grammar and command of the English language
Ability to work both independently and with others to resolve issues and maintain composure and professionalism in an environment of changing and/or multiple priorities
Must be able to work on a timetable, meet deadlines, follow instructions and accept direction on given assignments
Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain a high activity level

Job Responsibility

Responsible for building volunteer capacity through the planning, coordination and implementation of MADD’s Driven to Save Lives volunteer program at the State and Local level
Work with staff and volunteers, providing direction and coordination for all volunteer functions
Develop community relationships to promote volunteer opportunities within MADD
With staff input, regularly conduct mission specific needs assessments in support of the various areas of operations including but not limited to - victim services, programs and fundraising events/walk events
Develop strategies for growing the volunteer base in conjunction with State, Affiliate and Chapter overall goals and objectives
Foster community support for volunteer opportunities. Identify community outreach resources such as fairs, events, organizations, key individuals etc. to recruit potential volunteers
Recruit, screen, interview and select volunteers. Utilizing the volunteer program job descriptions, match the skills, experiences and expectations of volunteers to the appropriate job. Complete all relevant background checks per MADD policies
Plan, schedule and conduct new volunteer orientation and training. Provide appropriate tools (job descriptions, handbooks, manuals etc.) and ensure volunteers understand MADD’s policies and procedures
Schedule and coordinate attendance of volunteers at various MADD trainings, educational programs and events. Work with volunteers to create volunteer–led events and mission related programs and services
Provide guidance, training and support to staff working with volunteers
