International Friendships, Inc. is a growing faith-based organization, whose mission is to extend life-changing hospitality and friendship to international college students. We do this by offering services, such as airport pickups, holiday hosting, temporary housing, conversation partnerships, and social events and trips. This role is an amazing opportunity to reach key students in the Salem, Oregon area with the good news in a great part of the country!
Job Responsibility:
Church Relations: Establish new church relationships
Work with churches to identify and engage church coordinators and facilitate their involvement
Seek ways to stimulate more involvement among churches, including providing volunteer opportunities for church groups
Maintain data related to church partnerships and coordinators
Volunteers/Students (~65% of time): Manage the lifecycle of a volunteer, including recruitment, renewing volunteer application forms, checking references, running background checks, matching, and renewing volunteers
Being a resource for volunteer questions
Work with mobilized volunteers and provide training, as needed
Coordinate volunteers and attend big events, such as welcome events and the annual IFI banquet
Match students and volunteers and manage various programs and activities offered to students, such as airport pickups, temporary housing, English Conversation partnerships, Holiday Hosting, etc.
Request, receive, and record feedback and troubleshoot student/volunteer relationships as needed
Show appreciation to volunteers
Participate in direct ministry at the location, such as: Helping to coordinate and participate in cultural activities and trips with international students and relate with students from different cultures
Participating in an outreach activity, such as bible study, friendship partnership, English conversation group, or 1-on-1 discipleship
Advertising and promoting IFI international student activities and events
Other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
Adherence to IFI's statement of faith, core values, and policies
Is faithful, loyal and dedicated to IFI's mandate from the Lord to extend life-changing hospitality and friendship to international students out of reverence for Jesus
Godly character that follows the examples defined in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1
Well organized with attention to detail and ability to complete tasks independently
Be a self-starter, able to work independently, as well as a team player
Ability to work under stress and be flexible
Enjoys working with people and has strong interpersonal skills, especially when addressing a dissatisfied student or volunteer
Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google applications
Experience volunteering in several organizations
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or comparable experience
Previous non-ministry job experience preferred
Cross-cultural experience preferred
