Job Description:

Derbyshire Mind’s Crisis Support Drop-In Service provides support for adults who are experiencing or nearing a mental health crisis in a safe and welcoming non-clinical environment. The service offers out-of-hours mental health help, support and signposting in a relaxed and comfortable community environment.

Job Responsibility:

Support and facilitate the smooth running of the Crisis Support Drop-In Service
Present a warm, friendly and non-judgemental presence
Welcome and support attendees
Assist the Support Workers
Offer support to help attendees engage with various calming activities
Attend team wide meetings and one-to-one meetings with supervisor once every 6 weeks

Requirements:

Live in or near Buxton, Ripley or Swadlincote
Available on Friday evenings, Saturday evenings, and/or Sunday afternoons
Welcoming, non-judgemental, and a great listener
Interested in volunteering in a supportive role within a Mental Health organisation
Passionate about helping people in need
Have transport arrangements to get to and from services at times public transport is unlikely to support

What we offer:

Expenses paid including reasonable travel expenses (up to maximum £15 per day) and meal expenses when working a shift of 6 hours (up to maximum £4.50)
Comprehensive training before starting
