Job Description:

How and which products can I best use to guide customers through the store? And how can I ensure that customers add items to their shopping carts or yellow bags at a certain point? These are the questions you will be dealing with as a visual merchandising activity employee at IKEA Amsterdam. While your colleagues work on designing and furnishing homes and room settings, you will be working at the product level. In this way, you too will make an indispensable contribution to a better home for everyone.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure customers find their way around the store and are encouraged to make purchases
  • Clearly highlight all the benefits of versatile products
  • Consult with sales manager to promote products not selling well
  • Make rounds before store opens to restock products and organize back walls
  • Determine where new products can best be placed and take this into account during design phase in Revit
  • Place new products in the department according to IKEA standards
  • Participate in meetings with team manager and department about projects, well-being, and issues
  • Collaborate on larger projects and renovations involving implementation of new seasonal products throughout the store

Requirements:

  • Professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking achieved through creative training, preferably in interior design, or through work experience
  • At least 2 years of work experience as a VM or similar experience
  • Enterprising and takes initiative
  • Can work both independently and in a team
  • Knowledge of design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, or AutoCAD, to quickly master Revit
  • Speaks and writes English
  • Good at planning and organizing
  • Works accurately
  • Practical and commercially minded
  • Can explain ideas and visual concepts in words
  • Can come up with suitable solutions or alternatives when problems arise
