The Department of Environmental & Public Health, Administration, and Medical Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Health Care Administration Program for Academic Year 2026-2027. Applicants should hold at a minimum a Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Health Informatics, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. Additionally, the applicant must hold an AHIMA credential. This appointment begins August 2026. The position serves the Health Care Administration Program. It requires experience in medical coding, health information management/systems, and health care reimbursement. Expertise in these areas is essential for preparing the next generation of healthcare administrators to navigate complex healthcare systems, ensure accurate and compliant coding practices, support revenue cycle operations, and contribute to data-informed decision-making. The successful candidate will play a key role in aligning CAHIIM curricular standards, emerging industry trends, and workforce needs with course content. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution. In addition, membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended. The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.
Job Responsibility
Demonstrate the ability to effectively design, develop, and deliver course content across multiple instructional modalities, including traditional face-to-face and online learning environments
Maintain a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students
Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures as a means to help meet the needs of EKU students
Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop (syllabi, projects, lectures, tests, and other assessment instruments), and implement courses related to one's curricular area
Demonstrate the ability to develop original instructional materials and course content that support effective pedagogy
Keep up to date with one's field and curricular areas by reading and reviewing current scholarly or creative works and by attending conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and faculty development activities
Demonstrate the willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU, its academic units, and its campus community
Requirements
Master's in Health Care Administration, Health Informatics, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment
Knowledge of current practices in the healthcare management, health information management, and informatics fields
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products
