Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
1 Year Experience in an patient care setting/role such as Nurse Aide's, Patient Care Tech, Monitor Tech, or other nursing support role. is required
Basic computer skills, data entry required.
Job requires sitting for prolonged periods.

Job Responsibility

Utilizes the technology required for virtual patient observation and interventions for safe patient care.
Demonstrates competency in the set-up and ongoing use of virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and communication devices.
Collaborates with hospital unit nursing staff to set up camera to optimize patient visibility and conduct positive patient identification.
Assures alarms are activated with appropriate settings and are sufficiently audible.
Maintains continuous visual observation of multiple patients at one time on a monitor
assures a co-worker is monitoring assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations when unable to maintain continuous observation (e.g., when engaged in two-way video call)
Redirects patients promptly to maintain patient safety.

High School Graduate or GED
2 years of prior and recent experience in patient care (e.g., CNA, Unit Clerk, MA, LVN, etc.)

Job Responsibility

Continually monitor patients identified as high risk for falling, elopement, substance use, disorientation, or pulling out lines/tubes, and other potential concerns, across multiple facilities nationwide
Monitor patients from a System Office, utilizing live, non-recorded streaming video equipment to ensure patients interact safely and appropriately with their environment
Accurately recognize signs of patient agitation, impulsiveness, and illicit drug/alcohol use
Take appropriate action to notify staff of patient safety concerns
Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, colleagues, and bedside staff
Report potentially dangerous changes in patient behavior, escalating communications as necessary
Observe assigned patients by monitoring non-recorded streaming video equipment linked to a live feed from a camera situated in the patient’s room or other hospital-specific video observation platforms
Maintain continuous surveillance of assigned patients/rooms to ensure the patient is interacting appropriately with the care environment and surroundings
Initiate communication with patients as appropriate
Communicate with bedside staff in a timely, professional, and courteous manner

Minimum of 5+ years of recent experience as a licensed nurse and knowledge of care transitions in the acute care setting
