Job Description

The Virtual Hospitalist Physician will be a part of the Section of Hospital Medicine at AHWFB. The Physician will be responsible for patient care through the AHWFB Virtual Hospital Program. This program provides care to patients admitted to “brick and mortar” hospitals in AH-Wake market. The physician will be expected to provide supervision to credentialed Advance Practice Providers (APP) who are providing care to patients through the VH program.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide medical care to patients
  • Deliver virtual medical care and develop patient care plans using sound clinical judgment
  • Diagnose and treat diseases and injuries of the human internal organs
  • Examine patients (virtually)
  • Conduct/order diagnostic tests, Analyze the results and prescribe indicated treatment therapies including medications and Physical Therapies
  • Consult with other teams, when needed
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care
  • Assist in patient education and goal setting
  • Supervise APP in the VH team according to APP-supervision policy at AHWFB

Requirements

  • MD or equivalent degree and License to practice in NC
  • Must maintain a DEA license
  • Should be able to get credentialed at all of the AFWFB hospitals for inpatient care
  • Maintaining IP hospital medicine practice is preferred
  • 2 Years of experience as a hospitalist
  • A hospitalist with telemedicine experience is preferred
  • Treats all members of the patient care team with respect and dignity
  • Complies with all policies and protocols of VH and AHWFB
  • Attends VH business meetings regularly
  • Brings a problem-solving attitude and is ready for ongoing change of a program built for flexibility
  • Provides patient centered care with dignity and compassion
  • Always maintains and ensures patient confidentiality
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled
  • Attends annual review and performs departmental in-services
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner
  • Attends committee, CQI and management meetings, as appropriate
