The Video Streaming Engineer role involves providing operational support for live and on-demand streaming services. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3-5 years of experience in video streaming or broadcast engineering. Strong technical skills in streaming protocols and video codecs are essential, along with excellent communication abilities in English and German.
Job Responsibility:
Provide Level 2 operational support for live and on-demand video streaming services, ensuring reliable delivery across enterprise, broadcast, and OTT platforms
Troubleshoot and resolve complex streaming, encoding, delivery, and playback issues escalated from Level 1 support within agreed SLA timelines
Perform root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventative and permanent fixes to improve platform stability and performance
Monitor stream health, latency, bitrate, QoS/QoE metrics, and service availability using monitoring and analytics tools
Support live events, broadcasts, and high-profile streaming sessions, ensuring smooth operation during time-critical transmissions
Configure and maintain streaming infrastructure, including encoders, transcoders, players, and CDN integrations
Assist with onboarding new streaming channels, customers, and workflows, ensuring proper configuration and operational readiness
Apply software updates, configuration changes, and patches in accordance with established change management processes
Collaborate with vendors, CDN providers, and third-party partners during troubleshooting and incident resolution
Maintain and update technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge base articles
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Level 1 engineers to enhance operational efficiency and service quality
Participate in on-call rotations and out-of-hours support for live streaming events and critical service incidents
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in video streaming, broadcast engineering, or media operations environments
Hands-on experience supporting live streaming platforms, video-on-demand (VOD) services, or OTT delivery systems
Experience working in NOC, broadcast operations, or managed services environments with exposure to incident and change management processes
Strong expertise in streaming protocols such as HLS, MPEG-DASH, RTMP, SRT, and WebRTC
Solid knowledge of video codecs and formats, including H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP9, and AV1
Familiarity with audio codecs such as AAC, MP3, and Opus
Hands-on experience with encoders and transcoding platforms, including FFmpeg, AWS Elemental, Wowza, or OBS
Understanding of Content Delivery Network (CDN) technologies and providers, including platforms such as Kollective
Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze logs, performance metrics, and network traffic to diagnose streaming issues
Ability to remain calm and methodical during live incidents and service degradation scenarios
Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders
Strong documentation, reporting, and operational process adherence skills
Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to emerging streaming technologies and industry standards
Excellent command of both spoken and written English and German
