Job Description

The Vice President of Strategy, BAE Systems Inc. is charged with supporting the SVP, Strategy and Corporate Development and the Senior Leadership Team in delivering portfolio growth for sustainable shareholder value. This deliverable is achieved by assessing the business landscape, modeling future scenarios, analyzing complex business intelligence, and effectively communicating recommended courses of action with the SVP, Strategy and Corporate Development as well as other executive leaders. To do this well, the VP, Strategy will need to have or quickly develop a sound understanding of the portfolio. Additionally, as the VP, Strategy, you will be accountable for driving team deliverables necessary for successful strategic projects. Critical to the success of the VP is an ability to demonstrate the value of strong partnerships. This individual will bring collaborative energy and thought leadership around business environment analysis, strategy development and execution.

Job Responsibility

  • Supports the SVP, Strategy and Corporate Development in directing the strategy agenda for the Inc. portfolio
  • Leads the Inc. wide Integrated Business Planning process
  • Leads portfolio analysis and development of recommendations
  • Models and develops views of the future and corresponding strategic courses of action
  • Leads analysis of the Business Environment including competitive intelligence
  • Leads/supports the development and delivery of CEO /Board level briefings
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external organizations and think-tanks to support development of future scenarios
  • Contributor to the senior-level discussion and decision making on strategic priorities within a complex environment
  • Partners across the enterprise to develop/ensure sound and executable strategies and roadmaps
  • Lead strategic projects in areas in areas of interest. Partner with internal and external organizations to develop courses of action with a corresponding recommendation

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholder decisions through the development of strategic courses of action
  • Exceptional ability to structure ambiguity, analyze large sets of data, develop and communicate recommendations to others in simple terms
  • Broad awareness and curiosity of strategic drivers including geopolitics, megatrends, competitive landscape, and technology
  • Collaborative, decisive, sharp business acumen
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in Strategy, Program Management, or a Technical field
  • Superior ability to present and convey information to executive teams
  • Proven track record of leading and driving projects to successful conclusion
  • Proven ability to influence without positional authority
  • Ability to handle differences of opinion in a positive fashion
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel and database tools
  • Portfolio level strategic c analysis
