We are looking for VP of AI Engineering to lead the development of our multi-agent applications within Hyperion, our unified data and analytics platform for Private Markets in BlackRock. This role sits at the intersection of robust software engineering and data science and requires a deep understanding of agentic workflows. This is a senior-level position designed for an engineer with 7+ years of experience, preferably within a financial firm.
Job Responsibility:
Architect and scale complex, multi-agent workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph
Be hands on in leading the lifecycle from POC to MVP to production for AI applications including data pipelines and backend integration
Develop and apply statistical evaluation frameworks to analyze agent trajectories, ensuring reliability and accuracy in decision making
Lead the integration of LLMs into core business products, ensuring high availability and low latency
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
7+ years of work experience building and deploying engineering or AI / ML systems end to end
1-2 years of experience in deploying LLM workflows
Proficiency in Python and production level software design patterns (CI/CD for AI, unit testing for prompts)
Proven experience in building stateful, multi-step AI systems using agentic orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph
Strong grasp of basic NLP (tokenization, embedding, semantic search) and data science principles (statistical modeling, data preprocessing and experimentation)
Proficiency in graph data structure and libraries (Networkx) to model complex relationships
Advanced understanding of RAG architectures and vector databases
Familiarity with Transformer architecture and fine-tuning of language models
Familiarity with AI frameworks (Tensorflow, PyTorch) and Kubernetes
Strong written and oral communications skills
Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality solutions at scale
Nice to have:
Preference for prior experience with open source language models and actively staying current with developments in the rapidly evolving generative AI landscape
Understanding of private markets and asset management industry is a plus
