Job Description

The town of Whitman is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Veteran Services Officer to work under the general supervision of the Town Administrator. This is an administrative position in connection to the delivery of essential services to veterans and their dependents by providing information, assistance, and referral services to veterans and their dependents; assessing clients eligibility for benefits; processing applications and preparing reports as required by the town and state; and developing and administering the department budget. Candidate must be a veteran in accordance to state law M.G.L. c.4 (7) clause forty-third and have a valid driver's license. In accordance with M.G.L. Part I Title XVII Ch115 Section 3B Veteran Service Officers must complete the Massachusetts Department of Veteran Services certification process within six months of their initial appointment and every three years thereafter. This position is a full time 31 hours per week with benefits. The salary range is from $59,926 to $61,926 yearly. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
