The Venue Manager will focus on venue planning of the Start or Finish venues for all Grand Depart Stages of the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Grand Departs 2027. Whilst Local Authority Hosts are primarily responsible for the delivery of each of the ‘venues’, the successful candidate will oversee from a central project delivery perspective. Sitting in the Operations Team, reporting to the Operations Director, The Venue Lead will lead a venue team to support and co-ordinate all partners to ensure the safe and successful delivery of the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Grand Depart 2027 Start and Finish venues.
Job Responsibility:
Work collaboratively with Local Authority Hosts, emergency services, and delivery partners to create and deliver safe, world-class outdoor event venues
Act as the primary liaison with ASO technical teams for venue operations, integrating their requirements into UK delivery plans
Work with partners to develop and manage venue planning collaborating with Local Authority Hosts including venue layout and infrastructure, technical and competition requirements, Event Management and Event Safety Plans, security and crowd management, contingency and emergency plans
Create and manage venue management plans alongside LA Hosts, including stewarding allocation and working with the project’s Volunteer Lead for identification of volunteer locations and requirements
Work with the Police to design resource levels needed for venue management and additional blue light services
Design, with LA Hosts, the requirements for safety and security provision for each venue
Contribute to the development of venue contingency plans working with the relevant policing authorities, highways authorities and suppliers across the event
Update and manage documents and communications that will form part of the wider event management plan for the event
Work with the Route and Highways and Transport Team to interface venue and route management, spectator management and planning
Act as the main point of contact for LA Hosts responsible for the start/finish area at each stage
Work with the Operations and Programme teams, supporting delivery partners in their preparations and delivery
Provide support to other teams and departments as required by the project’s Operations Director
Coordinate technical visits, operational meetings, safety advisory groups and operational readiness requirements with key stakeholders and the ASO
Monitor venue delivery progress, budgets, and risks
prepare regular reports for senior management
Requirements:
Proven experience in delivering and overseeing venue management for major sporting closed road and outdoor events
Strong knowledge of road event infrastructure, safety, and crowd management
Demonstrable experience of working in partnership with the Emergency Services, Local Authorities and multiple stakeholders in major sporting event venues environment
A confident leader and project manager, capable of overseeing complex operations, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and driving high performance across teams and delivery partners
A strong communicator who thrives on building relationships with colleagues and a range of stakeholders
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
