Job Description

Sunday River is looking for a Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice to work alongside our experienced technicians on the service and repair of our fleet of high-tech grooming machines, buses, trucks, vans, snowmobiles, and ATVs. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a variety of environments, both indoors and outdoors, and thrive working as part of a team. This Registered Apprenticeship through the State of Maine is a great opportunity for a career-minded person starting out in the ski and/or vehicle maintenance industry, combining on-the-job and classroom training.

Job Responsibility

  • Professional assessment of work orders, estimates of time of repair, and work procedures
  • General safety around shop, maintain clean workspace, wear appropriate safety equipment, and demonstrate consistent safe operation of equipment
  • Perform inspections and testing, diagnose malfunctions, perform adjustments and repairs
  • General vehicle maintenance including, but not limited to, oil changes, brake replacements, tire mounting, track repair, wear and tear repairs, and top of fluids to vehicle specifications
  • System troubleshooting and repair of all systems across fleet
  • Equipment operation and repair in locations on and off mountain, in any weather or environmental conditions, as needed
  • Effective communication, record keeping and public relations with external guests and team members

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or actively working to earn diploma
  • At least two years of related classroom or work experience
  • The ability to use basic hand tools is required
  • Ability to use logic, vendor support, reference manuals, Internet resources, and documentation to solve problems is required
