The Vascular Unit at Western Health is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Vascular Surgeon to join our dynamic and growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high‑quality clinical care to patients across Western Health, supervising and training Junior Medical Staff, and contributing to the organization’s strategic priorities and ongoing clinical excellence initiatives. Job Responsibility:
Provide expert clinical care in Vascular surgery, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients undergoing elective and emergency procedures
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and actively contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive patient management plans
Supervise, mentor, and support Junior Medical Staff, including registrars, HMOs, and interns, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and professional development
Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of surgical education and training programs, supporting Western Health’s commitment to teaching and learning
Ensure compliance with clinical governance, safety, and quality standards, including adherence to Western Health policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
Collaborate with other departments and clinical services to ensure coordinated, integrated, and patient‑centred care across the organisation
Support Western Health’s strategic initiatives, including service improvement, innovation, and the implementation of evidence‑based models of care
Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement activities, contributing to continuous improvement and best‑practice outcomes
Requirements:
Medical qualification
Current Australian medical registration
Credentials for the position
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Surgeons
Experience in the support and supervision of Junior Medical Staff
Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team
Effective organizational skills, with respect to time management and delegation
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Displays and express a high level of ethics about patients, colleagues and the organization
Demonstrates skill and maturity in problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution
