Job Description

We are seeking a Variable Compensation Manager to join our global commissions team and will report to the Sr. Manager of Variable Compensation. This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the global commissions process. The role requires a strong individual who adds value to the team, the ability to produce high quality work, reconcile large amounts of data, audit commission calculations, while delivering accurate and timely commission payments. This role requires interaction with various other departments and teams (variable compensation; accounting, financial system, enterprise applications and sales operations) to execute annual commission plan enhancements and initiatives required by the business. The individual in this role must have experience with quote-to-cash, accounting, commissions, strong project management, and the ability to successfully meet deliverables and deadlines on time.

Job Responsibility

  • Own and manage all aspects related to monthly and quarterly commission calculations and payments using the SAP Sales Cloud commission system for all our global sales employees
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on commission processes, compensation plans and related accounting treatment
  • Analyze and reconcile large amounts of data, resolve discrepancies, meet tight close schedule and payroll deadlines
  • Analyze existing business processes, systems and data to identify opportunities for improvement to support and scale with business
  • Develop and maintain documentation of new and existing business processes and related systems
  • Conduct testing and validation (UAT, smoke testing, go-live) for compensation system updates and enhancements
  • Support the department by assisting with day-to-day activities including close process, special department projects, ad hoc/metric reports, and be a reliable backup for commissions and accountant team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • advanced degree or certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in commissions, accounting, revenue recognition, or quote-to-cash processes, preferably in SaaS/Cloud environments
  • 5+ years of experience using an ICM system (e.g., SAP Sales Cloud, Varicent, Exactly) and Salesforce
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end commission process which includes all aspects of each component of the compensation plans as well as accounting treatment related to commissions
  • Must be self-starter, able to work independently, adapts seamlessly, customer centric and have the interpersonal skills necessary to manage relationships effectively
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong organization/project management skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of software and spreadsheet applications including Excel, Crystal reporting, Tableau report creation and Oracle SQL knowledge is preferred
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and thrive in a rapidly changing business environment
