The Value Stream Manager (VSM) will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and continuously improving one of two product value streams (Gruvlok or Threaded Fittings) within the machine shop. This role ensures that customer requirements for each specific product group are achieved at the highest levels of safety, quality, delivery, and cost effectiveness. The VSM serves is a key leader who integrates the workforce, materials, machines, processes, and lead-times to drive KPI’s for a specific product families.
Job Responsibility:
Lead a cross-functional team of supervisors, engineers, and operators within the value stream
Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for team members
Own the performance of the value stream, ensuring achievement of KPIs including safety, quality, lead time, cost, and productivity
Collaborate with planning, scheduling, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient material flow and customer satisfaction
Implement continuous improvement and Lean principles (5S, standard work, Kaizen, SMED, visual management, etc.) to reduce waste and improve productivity
Develop and improve the value stream roadmap for each product group in alignment with the company’s growth objectives
Successfully Identify and execute opportunities for capital investment, technology upgrades, and process automation to improve competitiveness
Partner with quality and engineering teams to address recurring issues and improve first-pass yield
Track, analyze, and report on daily/weekly/monthly performance metrics
Lead and facilitate Gemba activities and regular value stream meetings to review progress, remove barriers, and drive alignment
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in machining or metalworking operations
Proven track record of leading teams of 50+ employees, with strong people management skills
Deep knowledge of continuous improvement, material flow, supply chain, and Lean manufacturing methodologies
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively across all levels of the organization
ERP/MRP system experience
proficiency with MS Office and data analysis tools
