The Valuation Control Analyst is an entry level position responsible for contributing to the Independent Price Verification, Valuation Adjustment and Fair Value Hierarchy processes. The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent team of subject matter experts within the Finance Division. VCG's primary responsibility is to reasonably ensure that risk portfolios are fairly valued in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. In doing so, the team works closely with its stakeholders, including senior management, business heads, product controllers, market risk, regulators, and both internal and external audit. As part of the team of diverse and supportive professionals, the main tasks are concerned with performing valuation control processes for various businesses within Citi's Institutional Clients Group.
Job Responsibility:
Management of issues with stakeholders in the Business and Markets Controllers.
Analyse information and make recommendations based on data
Select the best pre-defined procedure to resolve issues and seek guidance when necessary
Follow and maintain accurate and complete procedure notes and associated maker checker responsibilities.
Escalate anomalies and issues in an efficient and timely manner
Develop fundamental knowledge of product valuation, industry practices and standards
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Requirements:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
Relevant professional experience of 1-2 years or demonstrated interest in Finance preferred
Knowledge of, experience with, or a demonstrated interest in financial products and valuation principles. Understanding of financial statements and basic accounting concepts.
Strong computer literacy, with special regards to Microsoft Excel.
Fluent English with strong verbal and written communication skills at minimum B2 level.
