Job Description:

The Validation Engineer works with other engineers and managers on defining test requirements, using company standard procedures or developing measurement systems to determine requested information, as well as coordinating Technicians and Designers to assist in completing requested testing. For training and development purposes, assignments may include some work that is typical of a higher-level position. The incumbent will be expected to perform measurement engineering duties on many forms of rotating machinery, typically powertrain related. (S)He is expected to work in a research and development environment with mechanical and low voltage electrical equipment to provide valid measurements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Troubleshooting of rotating mechanical systems and low voltage measurement systems
  • Working with signal conditioning and data acquisition equipment
  • Programming of engineering software (MATLAB®) to facilitate data reduction and analysis
  • Reducing and analysing timing drive systems
  • Effectively communicating results and issues verbally as well as in written report form
  • Design and development of systems to measure specified quantities
  • Completion of requested tests within a reasonable time table
  • Coordinate test fixture design and execution of tests using a Designer and Technician(s), respectively
  • Reduction and analysis of acquired data
  • Responsible for the accurate communication of test results and issues with supervisor, engineers, technicians, and test request originators
  • Safety and Health – Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position

Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Proficient understanding of rotating mechanical systems
  • 0-2 years of experience in related field preferred
  • Hands on automotive or engine related mechanical skills
  • Basic electronic diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a cross functional group
  • Travel within US is occasionally required 5-10% of the time to support testing at customer locations
