Job Description:

We're looking for a strategic UX Manager to lead our Consumer Search & Orientation team and shape how millions of people find their next vehicle on mobile.de, Germany's largest automotive marketplace. You will lead a talented team of designers and researchers to create best-in-class experiences and be a leader for change in how AI and other emerging technologies may reshape how people find their next vehicle. This team is one of four UX teams at mobile.de and part of a chapter of 35 UX professionals. You will report to the Head of UX and work closely with the other UX Managers. As a key member of our cluster leadership team, you'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Business, and Marketing leaders to drive the strategic direction of user experience. You'll be the voice for user needs and insights, translating them into compelling product strategies that balance user value with business impact.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with cluster leadership (Product, Engineering, Business, Marketing) to shape product strategy and roadmap priorities
  • Own the UX vision and strategy for consumer search and discovery, championing user needs at the leadership level
  • Explore how emerging technologies (especially AI) can improve the search experience
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of designers and researchers, fostering a creative and inclusive environment where they can do their best work
  • Empower your team to conduct impactful research and integrate findings into the design process and strategic discussions
  • Drive UX excellence across the consumer platform, especially around orientation, search and AI experience
  • Establish high standards for design quality, user research, and data-informed decision making
  • Become an expert and advocate for our users and their needs while maintaining strong business context

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience leading and developing UX teams, with a track record of growing people's capabilities
  • Strong coaching skills and ability to create team culture that enables great work
  • Comfortable managing both designers and researchers
  • Experience creating product and design strategies that meet business goals and user needs
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, with experience securing buy-in from leadership
  • Extensive background in UX, with deep understanding of user-centered design principles
  • Strong grasp of user research methodologies and integrating research into product development
  • Experience balancing user needs with business goals and technical constraints
  • Excellent communicator who can articulate design rationale, present strategies, and influence across functions
  • Comfortable leading discussions and working with a variety of teams and leaders across the company
  • Passion for design, research, collaboration, and developing people
  • Have curiosity about users and emerging technologies, and the ability to provide clarity in ambiguous situations
  • Effective English required
