DBtune is an innovative startup based in Malmö, specializing in AI-driven optimization for PostgreSQL databases. We are looking for a talented UX Designer who will play a key part in shaping the user experience of our product. If you have a passion for solving technical design challenges, data visualization, and innovative technology, join our fast-growing team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between our complex AI-driven optimization technology and the humans who rely on it. You will collaborate closely with our research and product teams to design user-friendly, data-rich interfaces that make database optimization accessible and actionable. Your primary mission will be to translate intricate performance metrics into a seamless user experience. You will be working on our core SaaS dashboard, visualizing optimization insights, and simplifying the configuration of PostgreSQL solutions across environments like Amazon RDS and Azure Flexible Server.

Job Responsibility:

  • End-to-end product design: Lead the design process from conceptualization to hand-off, creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for the DBtune platform and website
  • Complex data visualization: Design clear and actionable data visualizations that help customers instantly understand their database performance metrics, optimization opportunities, and AI-driven insights
  • User research & testing: Conduct user research and usability testing to validate assumptions and identify pain points in the workflow
  • Develop domain knowledge: Proactively build a functional understanding of PostgreSQL concepts and database optimization to design with empathy and precision for our technical users
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team to ensure designs are technically feasible and correctly implemented, maintaining a tight feedback loop during development
  • Design system maintenance: Contribute to and maintain an internal design system to ensure consistency across the application and marketing touchpoints
  • Simplify AI interactions: Create interfaces that explain why the AI is making specific tuning recommendations, fostering trust and transparency with the user
  • Customer engagement: Occasionally join meetings with partners and customers to observe how they interact with the product and gather direct feedback on the UI/UX
  • Support go-to-market efforts: Create ad hoc visual assets and high-quality graphics for marketing, sales, and promotional materials to support the brand's growth and market presence

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a UX Designer or equivalent
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience designing complex web applications, dashboards, or data-heavy interfaces
  • Expert knowledge of design and prototyping tools such as Figma
  • Demonstrated ability to break down complex technical problems into simple, user-friendly flows
  • Experience handing off designs to developers and familiarity with the development lifecycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently in a startup environment, taking ownership of the design direction

Nice to have:

  • Degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, or a related field
  • Experience designing monitoring platforms, or cloud infrastructure dashboards
  • Experience in prototyping functional UI demos, with AI coding agents or otherwise
  • Familiarity with marketing and sales design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud) for creating high-fidelity marketing assets, or proficiency in rapid-production tools (e.g., Canva) and presentation software (e.g., Google Slides, PowerPoint) for designing impactful sales decks and go-to-market materials
  • Familiarity with AI-driven design tools and methodologies
  • Familiarity with databases or with SQL/PostgreSQL concepts
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS/JS
  • Experience with data visualization libraries or concepts (e.g., designing for Highcharts, D3.js, or Grafana)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment
  • Interest in AI and how it interacts with human workflows
