We are seeking a Utility Estimator to support a growing backlog of estimating work related to small generation interconnect projects. This role will provide hands-on estimating support to the estimating team by preparing cost estimates, validating pricing data, and assisting with feasibility and system impact studies across Substation, Transmission, and Distribution projects. This position is ideal for an estimator with utility experience who is comfortable working independently in WinEst, supporting senior estimators, and managing detailed cost data in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare quantity takeoffs and input estimates into WinEst
Develop cost estimates primarily focused on small generation (interconnect) projects
Validate material and equipment pricing within the WinEst database and update pricing as needed
Research, track down, and confirm material and equipment costs to ensure estimate accuracy
Gather available project documentation and create organized folder structures for new estimate requests
Prepare feasibility and system impact study estimates for Substation, Transmission, and Distribution projects
Upload completed WinEst estimates into the estimating database
Validate estimate data accuracy and alignment in Tableau
Compile completed project actual costs by type for analysis and upload into Power BI
Support estimating process improvements and backlog reduction efforts
Requirements:
5+ years of estimating experience within a utility, electric power, or T&D environment
Hands-on experience preparing estimates using WinEst
Experience with Substation, Transmission, Distribution, or generation/interconnect projects
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and validate large amounts of cost data
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small estimating team
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Nice to have:
Previous experience working directly for a utility
Familiarity with feasibility studies and system impact studies
Experience supporting estimating data validation in Tableau or Power BI
Local to the Portland, OR area with the ability to work onsite in a hybrid schedule
