We are looking for an enthusiastic Utilities Systems Operator to join our Facilities and Engineering team, playing a key role in the start-up, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of critical utilities systems in our new GMP manufacturing facility. In this role, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will work closely with manufacturing operations, process engineering, quality and other technical operations functions. You will act as a Boiler Power Engineer, as defined by Technical Safety BC, for our new GMP manufacturing facility.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing technical support operating boilers and process vessels in compliance with the Technical Safety BC
  • Supporting the day-to-day safe and reliable monitoring and operation of all utilities equipment/systems
  • Carrying out work order relating to routine maintenance and planned repair activities for utilities equipment through CMMS e-system
  • Performing shutdown and restart of utilities systems during major maintenance activities or unplanned power outage
  • Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and problem-solving solutions for utilities systems interfacing with manufacturing process and quality control equipment
  • Providing recommendations for improvements on operations of utilities and base building equipment
  • May be asked to perform shift work based on company business needs

Requirements

  • 4-6 years experience in a manufacturing plant operation (steam plant, production, maintenance, quality, safety, and environmental compliance) or similar industry
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Valid Technical Safety BC Class V Power Engineering certificate or higher
  • Knowledge and/or experience on base utilities equipment such as Boiler, Chiller, AHU, and Gases
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge and ability to perform/supervise routine maintenance and repair tasks
  • Strong operational acumen with experience in risk management
  • Passionate about building dynamic new teams and capabilities
  • Creative and innovative thinker, with the ability to identify potential issues before they arise

Nice to have

Hands-on experience in GMP clean utilities (e.g. Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water System, Water for Injection, Clean Compressed air, etc.)
