Job Description:

General Excavating is searching for a Superintendent who is expected to manage construction projects that generate profits for the company. This role is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day management of projects and on-site craft personnel and subcontractors. Directs, schedules, supervises, and coordinates activities of personnel to obtain optimum use of equipment and facilities. Provides overall management of construction project sites and procurement through final acceptance, while ensuring project safety. Maximizes profits and cost controls to maintain stability and growth of the organization.

  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, engineers, inspectors, contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers to resolve matters
  • Inspect and review work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications, plans, schedules, and safety compliance
  • Prepare or review reports on progress and costs
  • Control disputes with the public and customers
  • Confer and cooperate with other onsite personnel
  • Investigate and report damage, accidents, or delays
  • Monitor compliance with project safety program requirements
  • Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations
  • Prepare recommendations for management performance evaluation

Requirements:

  • Four (4) years minimum related experience
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a 10 panel pre-employment drug/alcohol test and physical exam
  • Clean background check
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance
  • Ability to read a tape measure and convert inches into tenths
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations
  • Physical demands: use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with arms, climb or balance
