Amazon internships across all seasons are full-time positions, and interns should expect to work in office, Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 8am-5pm. Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the Amazon work-day. Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter/semester/trimester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes. As a UX Research Intern you will need to think strategically, be creative, and negotiate design solutions in relation to business goals. Help collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs and online experiments. You will identify and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research and help advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and execute a comprehensive research plan
  • Identify best method or mix of quantitative and qualitative methods based on priorities, research questions, timeline, and resourcing
  • Design, conduct, and analyze results from 1-3 studies including usability lab studies, remote research, field studies, and survey design
  • Think strategically, be creative, and negotiate design solutions in relation to business goals
  • Help collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs and online experiments
  • Identify and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research
  • Help advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an academic program physically located in the United States
  • Enrolled in a Master's Degree or PhD program
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum
  • Have at least two creative materials for Amazon to review
  • Experience reviewing user research and data to build a strategic and user-friendly design
  • Currently working towards a Master's Degree or above in Human-Centered Interaction, Statistics, Psychology, Design, Computer Science, or other equivalent discipline, with an expected conferral date between October 2026 – December 2029

Nice to have:

  • Experience user research or other experience from a technical field, such as software development, systems management, or similar
  • Have a portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports, personas)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills
