The U.S. Cost Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing cost accounting activities to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. This role supervises a team of cost accountants, providing guidance on cost analysis, variance reporting, and process improvement. The position collaborates closely with operations, finance, and supply chain teams to support strategic decision-making and maintain cost integrity.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee standard costing, product cost development, and cost roll-ups for several manufacturing and distribution sites in the U.S.
Partner with operations, engineering, FP&A, and supply chain to track costs of new products from ideation to market commercialization
Lead month-end close activities related to cost of goods sold and inventory
Review and prepare inventory reports including stock reconciliation, excess and obsolete inventory, inventory roll forwards, etc.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies
Prepare and review cost-related financial reports for management decision-making
Support financial audits and legislative requirements related to manufacturing costing
Supervise and develop cost accounting & inventory control staff and review work for accuracy and timeliness
Lead cost accounting and inventory control function migration from AS400 to Infor M3 Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning
Drive continuous improvement in costing methods, systems, and manufacturing processes
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting or manufacturing finance
Proficiency in absorption accounting and managerial accounting principles with strong GAAP/IFRS understanding
Experience with medium-to-large entities within a manufacturing environment (public or private)
Experience with ERP systems (Infor M3, AS400, SAP) and strong Excel/data analysis skills
Excellent analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills and the ability to relate to all levels of management
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment
Nice to have:
MBA, CMA, CPA, or other relevant certification(s)
Knowledge of Business Intelligence Tools (QlikView, QlikSense, etc)
Proven leadership skills with experience managing accounting staff
