Job Description

We are seeking experienced Mid-to-Senior-Level Urban Planners for variable part-time positions for contract staffing assignments to public agencies—for both current and long-range planning projects. These positions are available in our San Diego, Pasadena, Fullerton, and/or Riverside, CA offices. We have current opportunities available and are also establishing a list of potential planners for positions that may become available soon. We appreciate people who require flexibility in their work schedule, as this is a part-time position with varying hours each week. The schedule for each position will depend upon the candidate’s preference and client needs.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborative Teammate Working Directly with Clients: You will work as part of a cross-office, cross-discipline team that provides a full range of planning services to public agencies
  • Project Work: You will work at MIG offices and/or in a remote capacity to undertake a range of planning work. You will have the opportunity to support a team of planners, designers, and project managers in all aspects of planning projects, including meeting facilitation, research, writing, development of materials, meeting support, content analysis, administration, and client interaction
  • Project Types: You will work on a range of exciting, broad reaching projects, including comprehensive, specific, downtown, and corridor plans

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a related field
  • Three or more years of experience working with a city or county in current planning and entitlement processing
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experience in presentations before advisory bodies and/or city councils
  • Experience in preparing and processing CEQA documents
  • Five or more years of experience working with a city or county in the current planning and entitlement processing
  • Project management experience dealing with complex projects
  • Experience in processing CEQA documents, including Environmental Impact Reports
