Job Description

Affinity Partnerships are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Upper School Teacher to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) School from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 who require additional social, emotional and behavioural support to access education. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across the curriculum
  • Create a positive, structured and nurturing learning environment
  • Support students with SEMH needs and associated behavioural challenges
  • Develop individual learning strategies to maximise pupil engagement and progress
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and senior leaders
  • Monitor, assess and report on student progress effectively
  • Promote resilience, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching, middle school or secondary-aged pupils
  • Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Is passionate about supporting students with additional needs
  • Can adapt their teaching style to meet a variety of learning needs
  • Is resilient, patient and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
  • Experience within an SEMH, SEND, Alternative Provision or PRU setting is desirable but not essential

  • Teach both speech writing and speech delivery, including structure and organization, thesis development, compelling openings and conclusions, use of evidence and storytelling, and guiding students through revision and feedback cycles
