Buckingham Browne & Nichols School is seeking a full-time Upper School Science teacher to teach four science classes, who values student voice and agency, utilizes a variety of pedagogical approaches, can work independently, and is excited to work as part of a team in curriculum development.
Job Responsibility:
Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study
Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests
evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance
Designs and delivers individual lesson plans
Supervises the behavior of students
Monitors students' progress throughout the year
Communicates progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents
Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues
Enforces safety and security standards
Maintains required paperwork
Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms
Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars
Maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices
Performs related tasks such as sponsoring student activities or organizations, including athletics
Requirements:
Hold an undergraduate degree in science or a related field
Have teaching experience and an educational background in at least two of the following foundational science classes: Biology, Physics, and/or Chemistry
Possess a passion for science and teaching
Can teach a variety of levels of science and differentiate to a range of learners
Demonstrates skills and competencies that support BB&N’s goal to become an antiracist institution
Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to furthering their scientific knowledge
Works collaboratively with colleagues to design and implement a shared curriculum
Models and upholds BB&N’s mission and values

Nice to have:
An advanced degree in science, education, or a similar field is preferred
Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching science at the high school level
