Job Description

As an Upgrade Install and Relocation Engineer, you play a critical role enabling the world's most advanced semiconductor technology. At ASML, your work directly supports customers who create faster, smaller, and more energy-efficient microchips that power everyday life. You will join the Customer Support organization, where you help install, upgrade, and relocate complex lithography systems at customer sites across the United States. In this Upgrade Install and Relocation Engineer role, you support ASML's mission to push technology forward by ensuring systems perform safely, reliably, and to specification.

Job Responsibility

  • Install, upgrade, and relocate semiconductor equipment at customer sites
  • Inspect, assemble, align, and test system components to meet design specifications
  • Diagnose technical issues, perform repairs, and verify system functionality
  • Collaborate with colleagues and customers to identify root causes and resolve issues
  • Escalate complex problems clearly and promptly to supporting teams when needed
  • Train customers on system operation and routine maintenance practices
  • Complete technical documentation and service reports with accuracy and clarity

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or equivalent practical experience
  • Zero to two years of relevant work experience in a technical or field-based role
  • Exposure to the semiconductor industry, vacuum systems, or plasma technology is preferred
  • Experience using standard computer applications for documentation and basic data analysis
  • Apply analytical thinking to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively while also managing tasks independently
  • Adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Follow structured procedures while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Learn new technologies and processes with curiosity and confidence

  • Problem analysis and approach: gather all information relevant for the problem, analyze using available means, gather additional diagnostic info if needed, decide on initial approach to solve problem and execute, consult with others
  • Problem handovers and routing: handover problem or problem aspects to others (2nd line support), document and package all data relevant for problem resolution (e.g. pass-downs, work orders, field service reports, system problem reports, technical reports)
  • Installation: install equipment at customers locations, including equipment with new features, unload components, inspect for damage, assemble, align and test
  • Upgrade: execute hardware installation and perform system setup/recovery for upgrade packages as well as support locally owned field swaps by working according to an up-to-date plan and following the sequence
  • Provide feedback during execution in order to improve cycle time and performance
  • Procedures: based on arranged customer machine time window to arrange for all (possible) parts, tools, equipment and information / knowledge to be available at start of procedure, execute procedure
  • Process Optimization: signal gaps and improvement opportunities and reports it to the relevant stakeholders
  • Training / advice: explain appropriate actions to users to correct malfunctions, train customers in use and routine maintenance of equipment, recommend changes in user procedures when needed
  • Knowledge build-up and transfer: maintain and broaden own knowledge, shares best known methods within the work group
  • Coaching: provide appropriate support and assistance to less experienced engineers on first tasks
