Deliver pre-planned or collaborative lessons tailored to the specific learning paces and sensory profiles of pupils with complex needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and MLD
Lead and coordinate a team of specialist Teaching Assistants within your room, ensuring a unified approach to student learning, safety, and emotional regulation
Work alongside the SENCO to implement and track individual targets outlined in each student's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP)
Cultivate a safe, predictable, and nurturing classroom environment, utilising proactive de-escalation strategies to support dysregulated pupils
Monitor and record small-step student achievements, adapting your instructional methods based on data and student engagement levels
Partner closely with onsite speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and parents to provide a consistent framework of care
Requirements:
Significant prior experience working with children or young people with complex special educational needs (e.g., as an SEN TA, HLTA, Residential Support Worker, or Care Team Leader)
The presence and authority to step up to the front of the room, manage a small class size, and direct support staff effectively
A deep understanding of how to adapt communication styles (using visual aids or simplified instructions) to reach non-verbal or semi-verbal learners
A calm, patient demeanour and a thick skin, with the capacity to remain a stabilising presence during behavioural or emotional crises
An enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad)
