Aurizon’s Antiene depot is growing, and we’re looking for an Unloader Operator who enjoy a mix of office and outdoor work and aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. This role is crucial to keeping our trains moving safely and efficiently for our customers. You’ll spend a lot of time focused on operating computer control systems for unloading trains and operating an unloading facility, so strong concentration and attention to detail are essential. The work can be repetitive at times, so we’re after someone who can stay engaged, maintain accuracy, and show initiative to keep busy during quieter periods. This role operates on 12-hour shifts (0500–1700 and 1700–0500) as part of a 24/7 roster. This is a 5-month maternity leave coverage role, until May 2026.
Job Responsibility:
Operate computer control systems to unload trains safely and efficiently
Carry out visual (roll-by) inspections of trains, identifying and reporting faults
Communicate clearly via radio with traincrew and operational staff to coordinate safe train movements
Support inventory management, product sampling, data entry, and record-keeping
Inspect and report faults on plant and equipment within the Antiene Unloading Facility
Assist Aurizon teams during outage days, including safety inspections and coordinating on-site maintenance activities
Perform manual and hands-on tasks as needed in the outdoor areas of the facility
Requirements:
Able to concentrate for extended periods and remain focused during repetitive tasks
Happy working in a blended office/outdoor environment and comfortable getting your hands dirty
Shows initiative — keeps busy and looks for tasks during slower periods
Strong safety mindset with great attention to detail
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Confident operating computer systems
Able to safely operate motor vehicles
Comfortable working 12-hour rotating shifts, including early starts, nights, weekends, and public holidays
C Class Driver’s Licence
Strong team player who can work across different group
