Job Description:

Under the immediate supervision of the Clinical Director or other designated management (charge nurse or nursing supervisor), functions in the role of unit support in a clerical capacity. Participates in unit-based decision-making and supports changes made. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to establish and maintain positive therapeutic working relationships with all internal and external customers. This position must possess the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced work environment, be familiar with medical terminology, and demonstrate organizational, secretarial, and computer skills. Position demonstrates the ability to utilize electronic medical records within their scope of practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintains continuous alertness and response to patient safety issues and participates in maintaining a safe and secure patient care environment
  • Adheres to Christus policies and procedures and the standards of JC, OSHA, DHH, HIPAA, etc.
  • Communicates with patient/family/staff members
  • Performs communication using various technology applications
  • Attends in-services, department, staff or other required meetings
  • Specimen delivery
  • Using appropriate moving and lifting techniques and equipment
  • Assisting with transporting patients
  • Assisting with admission, transfer and/or discharge processes including securing assistive devices and personal effects
  • Performs delegated tasks
  • Participates in care of the patient environment and equipment
  • Maintains cleanliness of nurses station/refreshment area

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Computer experience preferred
  • BLS

  • Carry out repair and maintenance on mobile plant and site infrastructure, as planned or directed by site management, including mechanical engineering, fabrication, and welding tasks
  • Plan and deliver corrective and reactive work, making sure tools, parts and materials are available, minimising production downtime, upholding the highest safety standards, and maintaining tidy work areas through a ‘clean as you go’ approach at all times
  • Ensure the equipment used to undertake welding, fabrication or other service work is in good working order and serviced as required. Must have a solid understanding of all hot work activities and welding accessories
  • Ensure that all plant and equipment on site is modified and improved, as necessary, to maximise equipment availability and performance whilst still achieving output levels required to meet production demands
  • Complete dynamic risk assessments where necessary to ensure that safe working practices are upheld, and risk reduced
  • Be aware of stock control and maintain shift paperwork to the highest standard, to complete condition reports and other documentation as defined by the maintenance strategy
  • Assess malfunctioning equipment and provide advice to the site management team to support and influence decision‑making
  • Carry out engineering project work and assist with new installations or refurbishments to ensure high‑quality, reliable operational performance
  • Update and administer the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) while completing Planned Maintenance inspections in line with the site maintenance plan, ensuring all work is carried out safely and effectively
  • Contribute to problem solving workshops, providing engineering expertise to identify root causes of failures and subsequent improvement actions
