Job Responsibility

  • Own the Payroll Process: Process weekly payroll for union field employees (ironworkers, operators, laborers)
  • Accurately calculate wages, overtime, double time, and contract-specific pay rules
  • Review timecards and job coding to ensure precision and compliance
  • Be the Union & Compliance Expert: Interpret and apply multiple collective bargaining agreements (CBAs)
  • Manage union deductions, including dues, benefits, and pension contributions
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements
  • Prepare and submit reports to union benefit funds
  • Drive Accuracy & Accountability: Reconcile payroll, union reports, and general ledger entries
  • Support audits and ensure all reporting is timely and accurate
  • Serve as a trusted resource for payroll questions from employees and management
  • Quickly resolve discrepancies and ensure employees are paid correctly and on time

Requirements

  • 3+ years of union payroll experience (construction or related industry preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of: Multi-state payroll processing
  • Experience with payroll systems
  • Advanced Excel skills

Nice to have

  • Background in heavy construction
  • Experience working with multiple union locals
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
