Job Description:

AFSCME Wisconsin Council 32 is taking applications for the position of full-time Union Organizer, focused on building membership and training and empowering member leaders. We are looking for a problem solver with a proven record of managing group dynamics and empowering, motivating, and tasking volunteer leaders to do the work of building the union. At AFSCME, workers are the union, and our strength comes from our members leading the fight for dignity, fairness, and respect at work. This position is based in our Milwaukee office and will primarily organize in the Milwaukee area, with the expectation of taking on statewide organizing responsibilities in approximately 12–18 months.

Job Responsibility:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with non-union workers, members, and staff
  • Identifying and developing worker leaders
  • Developing and guiding worker committees
  • Empowering workers to build community and act to improve their working conditions
  • Working with teams of members and staff on organizing campaigns, focused on non-union workers
