The Unified Communications Engineer assists with UC platform development, design, and support, and will understand business processes and develop unit and integration test scenarios in accordance with system requirements and business process changes. The position provides central support to core systems, designs, configures, installs, manages, and troubleshoots. This position is 100% on-site with no remote work available.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as Engineer in all UC aspects (Voice, Video, Data) providing management and troubleshooting of VoIP Call managers, multipoint control units (MCUs), and Telepresence Servers within the Command-and-Control Facility (C2F) and supporting facilities
Lead/coordinate new Voice, Chat, SMS, Video infrastructure, and application deployments
Provide high-level operational support and receive escalations to ensure final resolution of reported incidents
Monitor Voice, Chat, SMS, and Video infrastructure capacity and performance to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of systems and applications
Ensure full compliance with Corporate Change Management policies and procedures for Voice & Video infrastructure
Lead/coordinate and manage Service Provider related activities
Manage resources and project-related tasks related to new deployments
Provide operational readiness through engineering, planning, coordination, incident and problem resolution, software installation, and upgrades
Participate in the planning, deployment, and support of Unified Communication systems
Coordinate requirements in conjunction with the Network Enterprise Center (NEC), as necessary, to resolve failures of applications, hardware, interfaces, and networks
Interact and coordinate requirements with Government POCs and other service providers and interface with senior management
Submit work orders to the 30th NEC for IP Management and Provisioning
Manage voice media gateway appliances
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. Experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
6+ years of Unified Communications (UC) Network Engineer Experience to support integration and Operations and Management (O&M) operations, including upgrades
At start date, must possess current IAT Level II Certification in ACTIVE status
Strong background with Oracle SBC
Experience with Cisco Unity Connection (CUC)
Cisco Unified Communications Manager (call routing) and or Avaya Aura soft switches
Cisco Meeting Server, Cisco Meeting Manager, Cisco Video Communications Server (Controls and Expressways) or similar
Creating/supporting IPSec MPLS VPN infrastructure and troubleshooting
Implementing and supporting BGP routing protocols
Contact center platform and IVR scripting
Hands-on experience supporting Cisco Call Managers, Unity, and Voice Gateways, including other voice media gateway appliances
Hands-on UC implementation, administration, maintenance, and optimization experience
Managing IT projects
Creating/supporting IPSec MPLS VPN infrastructure and troubleshooting
Designing, configuring, and troubleshooting QoS classification, marking, and prioritization of network traffic (voice, critical applications, etc.)
Demonstrable experience of advanced troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose network problems for routing, switching, security, and large-scale voice implementations
Knowledge of SIP Trunking/Internetworking & troubleshooting
Cisco Networking Equipment and Protocols
Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) including associated G.711 and G.729 codecs and Digital Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF)
Capable of performing all work necessary to design, develop, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, and/or coordinate modification of the voice/video communications systems as part of the Army's Unified Capabilities (UC) Architecture
Excellent understanding of various signaling protocols
Strong communication skills at all levels, and experience interfacing with senior officials
Superb attention to detail, critical thinking, and analysis skills, with advanced troubleshooting skills
Ability to collaborate with vendors on infrastructure designs to ensure the final product is what was architected or designed
Ability to define hardware and software performance standards
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Frequently communicate over video calls with internal and external stakeholders
