Job Description:

Allianz Commercial (AzC) is looking for an Underwriting Team Leader for our Inland Marine line of business. This role will be remote but candidates must reside in one of the following states: Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, or Oklahoma. The role involves leading a team of underwriters to underwrite profitable new and renewal business, negotiating terms with brokers, and developing strong relationships with clients.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead a team of underwriters to underwrite profitable new and renewal business
  • Negotiation of participation, pricing and terms and conditions for large clients
  • Ownership of large accounts / clients and ultimate responsibility for accounts within team
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients
  • Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets
  • Proactively manage capacity
  • Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation
  • Underwrite International Insurance Programs
  • Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception
  • Support development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for LoB
  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ proven track record in underwriting profitable inland marine business
  • Specialized understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape
  • Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework
  • Well versed in multiple inland marine products such as construction, transportation, miscellaneous coverages, and property
  • Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market
  • Experience working in a complex global matrix organization leading a team of professionals
  • Preferably a bachelor degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline
  • Completion of a professional insurance qualification
  • Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB
  • Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally
  • Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of underwriters
  • Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks
