Job Description:

We are hiring an Underwriting Support Specialist to support a busy Underwriting team at a highly respected insurance firm. This role is primarily phone‑based, focused on fielding inbound calls from agents to free up Case Managers so they can focus on processing new business applications. This is a great fit for someone who is calm under pressure, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing frequent agent interactions while keeping clean, accurate documentation.

Job Responsibility:

  • Answer a high volume of inbound calls from insurance agents, approximately 30–40 calls per day
  • Respond to agent questions related to application status, outstanding requirements, and next steps
  • Reference underwriting systems to provide accurate, real-time updates
  • Log each call thoroughly within the system

Requirements:

  • Comfortable being on the phone most of the day and handling consistent inbound volume
  • Detail-focused, organized, and accurate with documentation
  • Able to stay composed, positive, and professional, even with escalated callers

  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets
  • Negotiate price and terms and conditions with producers
  • Underwrite in line with Financial Lines governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles
  • Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processes
  • Contribute to development and execution of zonal Underwriting strategy for LoB
  • Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including Underwriters)
