At Allianz Commercial (AzC), we are the global leader for insuring corporate and specialty risks in the Allianz Group. Whether it’s aircraft, satellites, the world’s biggest ships and tallest building, cyber-attacks or climate change impacts, AzC has the major risks covered when it comes to protecting businesses. Our Professional Indemnity Financial Lines team is currently looking for an Underwriting Specialist based in Chicago or New York. This is a hybrid role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business (LoB) targets regionally in accordance with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority
  • Participate in the development and execution of Zonal Underwriting strategy for LoB(s) and work closely with Market Management, Claims and other product lines to achieve key marketing strategies, including cross- selling
  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets
  • Negotiate price and terms and conditions with producers
  • Underwrite in line with Financial Lines governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles
  • Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processes
  • Contribute to development and execution of zonal Underwriting strategy for LoB
  • Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including Underwriters)
  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and producer negotiations where necessary)
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers)

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years' experience in Underwriting profitable business in Professional Indemnity
  • Specialized expert understanding of Miscellaneous Professional, Lawyers Professional, Accountants Professional, and/or Insurance Agents & Brokers
  • 5-7 years' experience in demonstrating established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market
  • 5-7 years' experience in specialized understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements
  • 3-5 years' experience in good understanding of legal and regulatory framework
  • 3-5 years' experience working in complex, global matrix organization
  • College degree preferably in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration
  • Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII, RPLU) is a plus
