Job Description:

The Underwriter role involves comprehensive financial and risk analysis of Commercial Real Estate properties and associated sponsors/borrowers. Responsibilities include developing complex financial models, preparing succinct credit approval memorandums, conducting stress tests, and supporting Senior Underwriters in credit decisions. The position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills along with extensive experience in Commercial Real Estate underwriting or credit.

Job Responsibility:

Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of Commercial Real Estate properties and associated sponsors/borrowers
develop and maintain complex financial models
prepare well-reasoned and succinct credit approval request memorandums highlighting risks and actionable recommendations
conduct projection modeling, stress testing and analyses
support Senior Underwriters in making credit decisions using quantitative models and qualitative judgment
oversee periodic relationship credit monitoring and prepare Annual Reviews, Quarterly Reviews, and Criticized Credit Reviews
proactively identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and propose corrective actions
review and validate financial spreads, reports, and static data updates
support internal reviews and regulatory exam responses
prepare executive-level summaries of financial analysis and risk assessments
ensure all transactions comply with regulatory and Citi guidelines, policies, and procedures
apply safe and sound risk practices within Real Estate Credit

Requirements:

6+ years of relevant experience
previous experience working directly in Commercial Real Estate underwriting or credit preferably in the financial services industry
strong financial modeling experience in Microsoft Excel, including complex financial modeling, data manipulation, and scenario analysis
ability to apply credit and risk principles toward business goals
demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a high sense of urgency
highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and possess effective interpersonal, organizational and analytic skills
solid organizational skills with ability and willingness to work under pressure and manages time and priorities effectively with little to no supervision
highly effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority
