Job Description

The UG Operator will be responsible for operating many types of equipment in a safe manner while digging around existing utilities. We are looking for an experienced person with knowledge of the telecom construction industry.

Job Responsibility

  • Inspect and grease drill, minix, water truck (including pony motor and mixing system), mud vac, reel trailer, equipment trailers, drill head
  • Fill water truck with water, confirm mud vac empty
  • Help Locator prepare materials for workday
  • Help pothole all utilities
  • Dig entry, exit pits, and set up drill
  • Choose type of drill head to use based on soil conditions observed during potholing
  • Drill bore following instructions of locator, then pull product back once drilled out
  • Watch tailings to maintain correct flow
  • Help sweep product into and set peds
  • Help restore area
  • Load and unload drills, excavators
  • When filling out the jsa identity and make team aware of people in the work area, traffic closer than 15’ from work area trip and fall hazards
  • Move equipment between jobs
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Experience with heavy equipment
  • Meet physical demands – lifting up to 80 lbs.

  • Previous experience in the telecom, utility, construction, and/or engineering industry
  • CDL License Preferred
  • Confined Space training
  • OSHA 10 and 30 certifications preferred (Training will be provided)
  • First Aid certification preferred (Training will be provided)
