Responsible for the overall direction, administration, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects. Manages project scope, budget and schedule to establish operational priorities and maintains satisfactory relationships with construction coordinators, sub-contractors, and vendors.
Job Responsibility:
Manage 2 – 4 person crews engaged in underground construction
Delegate tasks to crew members and provide feedback on the following: Loading and unloading of job site materials and supplies to complete construction tasks
Ensure the safe operation of equipment (Dozer, Excavator, Backhoe, Jack Hammers, and other miscellaneous equipment and tools) to place conduit and/or cables
Access underground vaults and pedestals and complete trenches
Setting up of safety zones
Placing of small cable runs, hand holes, tie-ins, etc
4 x 4 manhole placements
Hooking up trailers and binding down equipment/machinery
Daily equipment and vehicle upkeep and maintenance
Ensuring work sites have been adequately cleaned up and worksite is restored after work (refilling trenches and holes, seeding and laying straw, etc.)
Ensuring safety compliance at work sites and while traveling to and from work sites
Other responsibilities, as assigned
Requirements:
A high school graduate or equivalent (GED) plus five (5) years of experience in a telecom or related construction field
Ability to work safely and perform within OSHA standards
Ability to read prints and direct crew
A broad working knowledge of the trades, disciplines, associated special processes, inspection and testing techniques
Self-starter with organizational, managerial, and leadership skills. Must be able to manage crews of up to 10 personnel, have effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and technical writing skills. Must be able to communicate with large groups of craft personnel as well as management and client teams
Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
Ability to relocate to project locations as required
Skilled in interpreting telecommunications construction drawings in hard copy and digital format
Experienced in providing redline updates to construction plans
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
Regular, reliable attendance
Work productively and meet deadlines timely within the schedule provided
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required
Nice to have:
Bilingual Spanish and English speaking preferred
OSHA 10 and 30 certifications preferred (Training will be provided)
First Aid certification preferred (Training will be provided)
CDL Class A preferred, without restrictions
