Job Description:

Peabody are currently seeking Underground Mechanical Fitters (Development) to join our Centurion underground mine; Our Centurion mine is located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. For more information on Centurion visit (centurionmine.com.au). This position is offered on a 7:7 day/night roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah) DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on underground mobile equipment
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections to ensure safe, reliable operation
  • Carry out personal risk assessment, hazard identification and other safety requirements relevant to the role
  • Work closely with the shift supervisor and other trades to ensure minimal downtime
  • Work to “Best Practice” techniques to ensure that equipment is maintained to a high safety, productive and reliable standard
  • Compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in site continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Trade qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years in underground coal mining
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, coupled with strong communication skills
  • Operation of underground equipment as required
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a team are key requirements of the role
