An Underground Electrician will be responsible for the safe execution of electrical maintenance activities, ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of electrical systems and equipment.
Job Responsibility:
Diagnose electrical issues and malfunctions, and develop effective solutions to address them promptly, minimizing downtime
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and electrical regulations to maintain a safe work environment
Regularly inspect electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to identify potential problems and address them proactively
Collaborate with engineering and management teams to plan and execute electrical projects, upgrades, and installations
Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for reference and reporting purposes
Keep updated on best practices, new technologies and safety measures
Be prepared to respond to electrical emergencies, such as power outages or equipment failures, and implement immediate corrective actions
Maintain effective communication with team members, management, and other stakeholders to report progress, discuss challenges, and coordinate activities
Requirements:
Journeyperson Electrical certification required
3+ years of experience in mining or heavy industry, of which 1 year in underground
Strong knowledge of electrical systems and equipment used in mining
Solid understanding of electrical safety regulations and best practices
Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues
Adaptable to fast-paced, changing environments
Familiar with mining-specific regulations and electrical codes
Experience with commissioning and start-up in mining or similar industries
