Job Description:

Per Diem-Ultrasound Technician-Ultrasound-Variable. UCI Health is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine, and the only academic health system based in Orange County. The technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed protocols for diagnostic purposes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound scanning procedures on adult and pediatric patient populations at a technical level requiring no supervision
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed protocols for diagnostic purposes
  • Positions and transfers patients
  • Operates Imaging equipment, prepares imaging rooms, equipment, supplies, medication, and invasive procedure supplies
  • Transports patients/, assists patients, and equipment during procedures and reports any unusual occurrences to the radiologist
  • Practices sterile technique and universal protocol
  • Rotating, variable shifts
  • Hours will include holiday rotation and scheduled on-call shifts
  • Maintains equipment and logs all reports all repairs
  • The technologist is expected to always display professional conduct in their interactions with other staff members, patients, and visitors

Requirements:

  • Completion of an AMA approved school of sonography
  • ARDMS in Abdomen and OB/GYN required
  • Current American Heart Association CPR BLS Certification
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Nice to have:

  • Proficient in abdominal, OB & GYN and small parts scanning and Procedures
  • Minimum of 2 years experience
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
